The Global Environmental Facility (GEF) project, implemented by TSURO Trust, has generated immense enthusiasm and high expectations among the Rusitu Valley community, who eagerly anticipate realizing economic benefits from the fish farming venture.

The community has proactively organized itself into ten groups of like-minded farmers, united in their pursuit of fish farming.

The GEF-funded project, set to run for two years in Chimanimani’s Rusitu Valley, has made significant progress, with six fish ponds at various stages of completion. Members are working diligently to complete the task before the fingerlings’ delivery.

This pioneering aquaculture project, introduced in Rusitu Valley for the first time, promises to provide a balanced and nutritious diet and serve as a replicable business model at the household level.

Notably, the inclusive approach to beneficiary selection has ensured the participation of diverse community members, including the elderly, middle-aged, youth, and people living with disabilities, who are working tirelessly to complete the manual dam-digging processes.
