𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞

This is an incredible milestone for the Chipinge ward 9 community! The success of the fish farming project not only enhances food security but also strengthens economic opportunities for local farmers and businesses.

Six months ago, a wave of hope spread through Chipinge ward 9 community, after farmers received tilapia bream fish fingerlings, courtesy of the Bread of the World Funded project being implemented by TSURO Trust in Chipinge ward 9.

Today, that hope has blossomed into tangible success, with project beneficiaries celebrating their first bountiful harvest.

The project participants are excited by the results realized from Ndiadzo Primary School fishpond which recorded the biggest fish weighing 357grammes with the least recording 264grammes.These results are not just numbers, they represent a significant step towards achieving a nutritional security.

The Bread for the World project has managed to live within its project scope of ensuring food security among its beneficiaries as well as diversifying livelihood options. The results of the Ndiadzo fish demonstration site have created anxiety for up-scaling of fish-farming projects in ward 9 in Chipinge district.

The impact extends beyond household sustenance. A total of 147kg harvested fish were sold to the nearby Business Community and individuals, realizing the much-needed financial resources for project sustenance.

Through support from Bread for the World, TSURO Trust is integrating agroecology into the training of Agritex officers in Chimanimani, Chipinge and Buhera.

The project also seeks to regenerate the environment through the establishment of nurseries and to create sustainable livelihood projects.

In addition to that, the projects also delve into common pool resource governance which aims at equipping traditional leaders with a sense of belonging in preserving resources such as mountains, water, grazing lands and protection of the environment.

As a result of the success of the project, more than 10 fishponds are expected to be established in ward 9.
