𝐓S𝐔R𝐎 𝐓r𝐮s𝐭 recently conducted a capacity needs assessment with 𝟏2 k𝐞y s𝐭a𝐤e𝐡o𝐥d𝐞r𝐬 to evaluate the effectiveness of climate adaptation by-laws at ward and village levels.
Participants included 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 & 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗫 & 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗧 & 𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗨𝗢), 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀.

Understanding of climate change 
Knowledge of CRDC by-laws 
Practical skills in community mobilisation, enforcement and reporting of violations 
Adequacy of institutional support systems 
Challenges like resource constraints and legal inconsistencies 
Targeted training needs for stronger environmental governance 
Through this process, 𝐓S𝐔R𝐎 𝐓r𝐮s𝐭 is empowering communities in M𝐡a𝐧d𝐚r𝐮m𝐞 and C𝐡a𝐤o𝐡w𝐚 to implement effective climate adaptation measures, fostering resilient ecosystems and sustainable livelihoods.
