𝐓S𝐔R𝐎 𝐓r𝐮s𝐭 recently conducted a capacity needs assessment with 𝟏2 k𝐞y s𝐭a𝐤e𝐡o𝐥d𝐞r𝐬 to evaluate the effectiveness of climate adaptation by-laws at ward and village levels.

Participants included 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 & 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗫 & 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗧 & 𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗨𝗢), 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀. 🏛️👩‍🌾👨‍💼

✅ Practical skills in community mobilisation, enforcement and reporting of violations 🤝

✅ Adequacy of institutional support systems 🏢

✅ Challenges like resource constraints and legal inconsistencies ⚠️

✅ Targeted training needs for stronger environmental governance 📚

Through this process, 𝐓S𝐔R𝐎 𝐓r𝐮s𝐭 is empowering communities in M𝐡a𝐧d𝐚r𝐮m𝐞 and C𝐡a𝐤o𝐡w𝐚 to implement effective climate adaptation measures, fostering resilient ecosystems and sustainable livelihoods. 🌿💧
