Positive transformation is taking root in R𝐮s𝐢t𝐮 and it is going beyond planting trees. Farmers from Wards 2𝟏, 2𝟐, and 2𝟑 are demonstrating how knowledge, collaboration, and commitment can drive meaningful change, turning sustainable practices into lasting solutions for both communities and the environment.

After hands-on training by 𝐓S𝐔R𝐎 𝐓r𝐮s𝐭 on 𝐩l𝐚n𝐭 𝐩r𝐨p𝐚g𝐚t𝐢o𝐧, g𝐫a𝐟t𝐢n𝐠, b𝐮d𝐝i𝐧g, 𝐚n𝐝 𝐧u𝐫s𝐞r𝐲 𝐦a𝐧a𝐠e𝐦e𝐧t, 𝟔𝟎 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 have successfully replicated nursery sheds right at their homesteads . Talk about skills turning into action!

Recently, the Knowledge Management Department paid a visit to the inspiring Kuguta Kwakanaka Nursery Group in Ward 23 and the energy was contagious! This vibrant group of 1𝟎 𝐦e𝐦b𝐞r𝐬 (8 women and 2 men) is still going strong, nurturing seedlings of 𝐦i𝐤u𝐭e, 𝐦i𝐰a𝐰a, 𝐦a𝐡o𝐠a𝐧y, 𝐟i𝐠 𝐭r𝐞e𝐬, and w𝐚t𝐞r b𝐞r𝐫i𝐞s .

And the community is fully on board! Traditional leaders are enforcing by-laws to protect trees, with fines for anyone found cutting them down. Strong leadership + active communities = lasting change
