TSURO Trust Board Chairman on Nature + Project

TSURO Trust Board Chairman Mr Achibald Dzingire took time to appreciate the scope of work and intervention programs being implemented under the Nature + Project in Ward 7 (Bumba) of Nemakonde Landscape, Chimanimani Zimbabwe.

The project, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB), seeks to foster nature-positive food systems for enhanced climate change adaptation.

The Board Chairmanโ€™s first port of call was the mushroom project which has transformed the livelihoods of 14 women. Within a space of two months, the beneficiaries are now harvesting mushroom daily.

Mr. Dzingire and the Nature Plus team had the privilege of inspecting the recently acquired 16 herds of cattle, an innovative new breed that will be distributed among the four clusters in the Nemakonde landscape. This initiative is part of TSURO Trust’s efforts to support local farmers in restocking their herds, aligning with the Government’s mission to rebuild the national herd.

The delegation had a better appreciation of Conservation Agriculture + and the Crop and field impaction programs being rolled out in the area.

After the tour, Mr. Dzingire appreciated the Nature Plus project team for their dedication and commitment to duty and for executing life-changing interventions in the Nemakonde Landscape.

He implored the project team to accelerate the intervention works for the Nature + project to realize its intended objectives of creating avenues for communities to contribute towards sustainable development goals especially that of poverty eradication, through ensuring thriving lives and livelihoods, zero hunger through sustainable food security and establishment of a long-term food and nutrition security.

The Nature + beneficiaries appreciated the Canadian Government, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Global Affairs Canada, and PWRDF, for providing the funds to TSURO Trust that have enabled the community-based organisation to roll out different Nature-based solutions in the Nemakonde Landscape.
