Farmers in Mhizha village recently held an agroecology open day learning from each other, as preparations for the 2024-2025 farming season gets underway in the landscape.

The farmers shared vital agroecology farming practices and practical lessons, starting from land preparations using minimum tillage techniques, soil fertility management, different types of mulches, water harvesting techniques, agroforestry, crop livestock integration and a host of others.

The project which is being implemented by TSURO Trust is becoming a living example of successes associated with proper agroecology practice.

The Agroecology program being implemented under the Nature + project aims to foster positive food systems for enhanced climate change adaptation and promote climate resilient livelihoods.

The Agroecology open day saw farmers showcasing the value addition of their agricultural produce as well as produces from wild collection.

Some farmers are engaged in fruit and indigenous tree planting to contribute towards a better environment and reverse the adverse effects of the climate change
