The Nature + Project, implemented by TSURO Trust courtesy of funding by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB) and the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF), has its engine on Agroecology thematic anchored on 55 Lead farmers.

Each Lead farmer has -+ 15 Farmer Action Learning Group (FALG) Members whom she or he leads.

The selection process of the lead farmers was premised on hard work, commitment and exemplary and indeed, it was all smiles as the Lead Farmers converged at Sunrise Health Club for the first time in 2025.

Judging by their smiles and presentation, it reflected on the state of crop situation in the Nemakonde Landscape 7 villages namely Nemakonde, Kuretu, Chitombo, Mandima, Mhizha Tagarirwa and Nezandonyi where the Nature-based solution project is being implemented by TSURO Trust in Chimanimani District of Zimbabwe, under Chief Mutambara.

In todayโ€™s episode, we are thrilled to showcase the inspiring farming journey of Enia Madziya, one of our lead farmers.

Alongside her husband, Mr. Julias Manzote, with whom she has shared 45 years of marriage, the couple has successfully implemented various agroecological farming principles, thanks to the training provided by Nature+.

Indeed, the exciting journey of Lead Farmer Enia Madziya is inspiring in the Mandima Village.

With support from the TSURO Trust-funded Nature+ Project, the lead farmer cultivated a diverse range of crops, including maize, sorghum, sunflower, beans, round nuts, and groundnuts, along with open-pollinated seed varieties. With these efforts, she anticipates a bountiful harvest.

Judging by the thriving crops and the strategic farming interventions implementedโ€”including conservation agriculture, Conservation Agriculture+ using the reaper, green manure cover cropping, mulching, and the establishment of swales for water harvestingโ€”it is evident that Nature-Based Solutions serve as a powerful pathway to food security, improved nutrition, and poverty eradication.
