𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠

Chimanimani Biosphere Reserve Board Members recently went through a capacity building training program, hosted by Vhembe Biosphere Reserve Director Mr Tonderai Makoni with a view to share experiences and capacitate the board members on the implementation of the Biosphere Reserve.

The consultant took through the board members and covered the following topics using Vhembe Biosphere Reserve case study.

What is a Biosphere Reserve?

Objectives and functions of a Biosphere Reserve.

Ecotourism and awareness

Management structure for Biosphere Reserve

Governance structure

Organizational chart

Showcasing of impacts through demonstration projects

Importance of collaboration and partnerships in Biosphere Reserves

Marketing strategies and

Youth Engagement in Biosphere Reserves.

Mr Makoni highlighted the opportunities that are within Chimanimani Biosphere Reserve which include:

Cyclone Idai- turning a negative into a positive

huge tourism potential

Good Transfrontier programs or relations

biodiversity credit projects.

It is anticipated that the Chimanimani Biosphere Reserve Board Members will now be able to hit the ground running and accelerate the implementation of Chimanimani Biosphere Reserve.
