Canadian Ambassador to Zimbabwe H.E Adler Aristilde together with other Canadian Officials recently visited Chimanimani District to get an appreciation of the Nature Positive Food Systems for Climate Change Adaptation (in short: โ€˜Nature+โ€™) project, which is being implemented by TSURO Trust in Bumba Area ward 7.

TSURO Trust employs a multi-stakeholder, multi-sector landscape approach in 7 villages namely Nemakonde, Kuretu, Chitombo, Mandima, Mhizha Tagarirwa and Nezandonyi in Chimanimani District of Zimbabwe, under Chief Mutambara, in Ward 7.

The project which is funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB) for three years will foster nature-positive food systems for enhanced climate change adaptation.

Ambassador Aristilde was accompanied by Government officials, and other development partners such as GAC, PWRDF, ADRA Mozambique, and MICAIA Foundation.

Ambassador Aristildeโ€™s visit and other delegates to Bumba was meant to assess the state of project implementation and to get first-hand information from the implementing partners and the project beneficiaries.

The high-powered delegation visited TSURO farmers implementing Holistic Land and Livestock Management (HLLM), Community-Based Seed Systems (CBSS), Timber and Non-Timber Forest products t as well as Bio Stimulant production. Lastly, the delegation visited a farmer who is into agroecology, climate change, and watershed management systems and had a better appreciation of the project impact being realized from such farming practices.

The landscape area includes arable land and rangelands (grazing and non-agricultural land), where Nature-Based Solutions such as sustainable livestock management and land restoration will be collectively implemented by the communities.

It is anticipated that the project will become a game changer and a springboard in creating Nature-Based Solutions which will contribute positively to rural livelihoods and community development.
