Transforming Lives, Restoring Nature!
TSURO Trust is empowering farmers to take charge of building sustainable communities!
Today we feature Chipo Mukute and John Makaya from Nemakonde Landscape Ward 7 of Chimanimani district, two of TSURO Trust dedicated lead farmers making a real difference, contributing towards re-greening the environment.
John is hosting a thriving nursery at his homestead, while both are sharing invaluable skills with their Farmer Action Learning Groups (FALGs).
Through the Nature+ Project, TSURO Trust is taking bold steps to:
Restore Land: The communities are healing degraded landscapes by propagating indigenous and fruit trees.
Boost Food Security: Tree planting and sustainable practices ensure thriving farms and resilient communities.
Create Income Opportunities: Farmers will earn more by selling trees from their nurseries.
But the impact doesnโt stop there! Together with the community, weโre planting trees in deforested areas and placing water-loving trees near springs, boreholes, and wells to protect these vital water sources.
This initiative directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 2: Zero Hunger โ Promoting food security through sustainable agriculture.
SDG 13: Climate Action โ Restoring ecosystems to combat climate change.
SDG 15: Life on Land โ Protecting and restoring terrestrial ecosystems.
This is the power of teamwork and commitment to a greener, healthier future!
Meet Chipo and John in actionโchampions of change in Chimanimani. Letโs celebrate their efforts and the incredible progress happening in our communities!
