TSURO Trust, in partnership with Alongside Hope – formerly PWRDF and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, has successfully implemented the โWater Brings Life to Nemakondeโ project in the Nemakonde landscape situated in Chimanimaniโs Ward 7, Manicaland Province.
The project delivered a 13.5km gravity-fed water pipeline from the Ruwaka River to Nemakonde, reaching over 1,100 people directly and improving the livelihoods of thousands more.
Water has now reached the Nemakonde landscape, with flow already established near one of the three nutrition gardens being set up to strengthen food and income security across the area.
Key Milestones:
Trenching and pipe installation complete
Water flowing to villages and gardens
Tanks are being installed for storage and conservation
Tie-off lines linking to mushroom hubs, fish ponds, gardens & livestock watering
The project complements the ongoing Nature Plus Project, promoting conservation agriculture, landline designs, gender inclusion, and holistic land and livestock management.
Strong Community and Stakeholder Collaboration:
The project was driven by a committed team, including a local committee of six men and two women, with strong support from traditional leaders, technical experts, and government departments. A Water Management Committee is now in place to ensure the pipeline is well-maintained and sustainably managed for long-term community benefit
The Result? Reliable water access transforms daily life, boosts food production, and lays the foundation for long-term economic growth in Nemakonde.
Thank you to everyone involved โ proving once again that water truly brings life!
