WFD- Project Update: Farmers in Chimanimani Embrace Climate-Smart Agriculture
Farmers from Ward 3 in Chimanimani participated in an engaging, hands-on training session focused on bio-fertilizer production. This initiative, part of the Weltfriedensdienst project’s Farmer Field School (FFS), equipped participants with practical skills in creating Bokashi and liquid bio-stimulants. These natural and affordable alternatives to chemical inputs are crucial for sustainable farming.
Promising Results from Field Trials
Following the training, farmers immediately applied their new knowledge, using the Bokashi in a field trial. Early indications suggest that these climate-smart methods are already improving soil health and enhancing crop resilience, demonstrating a clear win for both the community and the environment.
A Broader Commitment to Agroecology
This successful training is part of a larger effort by TSURO Trust to champion agroecology and farmer-led innovation throughout Chimanimani. By supporting community-driven learning models like the FFS, organizations foster sustainable practices that deliver real and lasting impact for local farmers and the planet.
