The Government in collaboration with development partners took time to celebrate the Youth Green Skills and Volunteering among the youth in Chimanimani District.
over 50 youths participated in the green skills and sustainable livelihoods workshop, with specific focus on apiculture, aquaculture, seed banking, rabbit, poultry farming and those in climate change mitigation to enhance their response to El-Nino induced drought affecting the country.
The workshop was aimed at strengthening the aspect of volunteering in young people for the betterment and development of communities.
It is the expectations of all partners namely VSO International, TSURO Trust, United Nations Volunteers, progression Digital Ark, Government Ministries and Department to see resilient and food secure communities necessitated by the practice of sustainable livelihoods skills.
The workshop also enhanced collaboration and provided peer to peer learning among the youthโs participants, fostering community for sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship, active youth voluntary participation in community service and above all celebration of youth and community volunteers.
These pre-celebrations marked the International Volunteer Day commonly known as IVD celebrated on the 5th of December every year.
